Kauzan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Named after the Kauzan River, Alay Range. V. I. Kotel'nikov in 1974 (459, p. 280). A.D. Miklouho-Maclay and G.S. Porshnyakov (176) distinguished the deposits of the K. suite under the names Tuyukdangin and Pyrkaf suites. Along A., the independence of the Tuyukdangin suite was not confirmed. V.I. Kotel'nikov proposed to combine these suites into one Kauzan suite. (443; 459; 460). Upper formation in the Andygen Gr.

Lithology and Thickness
In its composition, layered and massive algae-foraminiferal and oolitic-micritic limestones, "spotted". Bauxite lenses, allite, limestone-allite conglomerate-breccia. Thickness 40-400m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies with erosion or in a continuous section on the rocks of the Gaz Fm or with erosion on Lower Carboniferous limestones
Upper contact
Lies with erosion or in a continuous section overlies the Middle Carboniferous Tolubay Fm.
Regional extent
South Fergana, northern foothills of the Alay Range. Limited on the territory of Uzbekistan, most complete sections in Kyrgyzstan.

In the lower part of the section, foraminifera Aljutovella aljutovica (Raus.), Profusulinella convoluta Lee et Chen, Pseudostaffella antiqua (Dutk.), P. ex gr. gorskyi (Dutk.), Verella acuminata Rum., brachiopods Choristites priscus (Eichw.), C. ex gr. mosquensis (Fisch.), C. bisulca tiformis Sem., characteristic of the Upper Bashkirian-Lower Moscovian substage. In the upper part, Upper Moscovian foraminifera - Fusulinella ex gr. colaniae Lee et Chen, Fusulina antiqua Raus.
